Find - or go back to - a page that struck you one way or
the other. You can either choose a more or less commercial site such as
the Gibson-site,
or a more personal page such as one of the students at School
. Or you can choose something quite different.
-
What is your immediate impression of the page? (good,
bad, interesting, horrible, informative etc.)
-
Try to define the over-all theme of the page.
-
Describe the page - you should at least consider the following
aspects of it:
How is it composed?
Which elements does it
consist of?
Does the page seem slow
or fast in downloading? Why?
What role do colours play
- if there are any?
What images are used? (Standard
clipart, scanned pictures?)
Does the page contain adverts?
If yes, for what? Are the adverts
relevant for the theme of the
page?
Is audio part of the page?
What is the Effect?
Is video part of the page?
What is the effect.
-
Does the author try to make you come back to the page? If
yes: What means has he used? Why would he like you to come back, do you
think? If not: why not?
-
What is the relationship between what you defined as the
theme of the page and all the other elements you have found?
-
If the page includes a "mail-link" and an invitation to comment
on the page consider writing a reply. You should write a concise summary
of your findings (no more than ten lines): Include the following:
- who you are
- why you are writing
- what you think of his/her/its page - i.e. the results of your
analysis
- remember: you are writing to a person you do not know at all,
so be polite and friendly.
-
When you have finished your report on the page of your choice
mail it to me by clicking here.
You should also prepare a shortish (5-8) min. presentation to the class.
