Projects in English/American Literature and the World Wide Web!

This site is primarily intended for teachers of English in Denmark, but everybody else is welcome. The aim of the site is to present a selection of practical projects that I find suitable - or just interesting - in an upper secondary classroom. On the net there are already many sites devoted to language teaching - but there are not so many sites devoted to practical projects in literature and other related studies. If you know of interesting projects please drop me a line.

PROJECTS

A simple  worksheet to be used with  the article Information Revolution from National Geographic Magazine. The worksheet links to various on-line sites which give perspective to  some of the themes of the article.

A Cyberreport - about WWW and its Homepages. Suggests a rather intuitive approach to the semiology of the Web. (At the moment in Danish only, but an English version is under construction.)

 Hyperfiction - a new genre.
Links to both theoretical hyperfiction sites and online hyperfiction.
Sorry: Link dead at the moment. Will be reconstructed

Centuries of Passion - a full-scale electronic project. Comprises material as diverse as Shakespeare's  comedy Measure for Measure, Lord Tennyson's poem Mariana and Sir John Everett Millais' painting Mariana of the moated grange. Assignments are also suggested.

The American Wilderness - On-line material to be used  together with Leif Frederksen's anthology The American Wilderness. Hot stuff indeed.

Black History Month A very big American project. It simply has everything:   Good texts, images,  assignments - take a look, enjoy and learn.

John Keats:  Ode On a Grecian Urn Various material about Keats and the poem together with assignments and a Danish glossary.

Lessons in Africa  - a multimedia, Multidiscipli-
nary mass communication project, created by DR (Danish Radio) and Nørresundby Gymnasium. The project contains fully developed lesson-plans, on-
line material.

A Short Course on  Shakespeare's Hamlet. - A very comprehsnive site - it is a short course, complete with questions, sample answers, the text in a nice layout, links to other relevant material and sites. The site was created by Ian Delaney.

OTHER LINKS
A comprehensive list of Shakesperean and other Renaissance ressources. Digital Dante - Dante's Divine Comedy. A lot of interesting material.

Comments, ideas and new projects' urls are welcome.
